Ohio Valley Outdoors Magazine serves the outdoor community in Eastern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and Northern West Virginia. The bi-monthly magazine is built around features on hunting, fishing, boating and issues of concern to outdoors enthusiasts. We try to keep coverage local and always relevant to our readers. Besides feature articles, we present news and opinion, news from Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Pennsylvania Game Commission and West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, a calendar of events throughout the area, reviews of new products, and letters to the editor. Our writers and photographers, both local and national, are known throughout.

Ohio Valley Outdoors Magazine was begun in 2001 by outdoor enthusiast Dave Freeman. He sold the magazine to Ogden Newspapers in March of 2006. Freeman retired as publisher/editor in December of 2006.

Larry Claypool took over as publisher/editor at OVO in January 2007. Claypool, a lifelong Ohio Valley resident, is an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He has 17 years of experience in the publishing industry. Claypool spent 14 years as a sports writer, photographer and beat writer at The Review newspaper in East Liverpool, Ohio. He has won several Associated Press writing and photography awards. His work has appeared in several national and regional magazines and publications.

OVO Sales Director Mike Ludovici is an avid hunter and fisherman. He’s hunted for more than 30 years, both gun and bow. Mike has lived on a family-owned farm, which he hunts extensively, in the northern part of West Virginia for more than 32 years. He tends to several horses also. He joined the OVO staff in April 2007.

In addition to our core staff, we have a list of contributing and field writers who are well-known throughout the Ohio River Valley. Many write for national magazines and publications as well: John Sloan, Rob Hilliard, Vernon Summerlin, Ed Moody, Freddie McKnight, Paul Moore, H. "Bump" Bauer, Bob Mackovick, Troy Basso, Stanley Rice, Dick Jones, Chris DePaolo, Tommy Sedlak, Travis Hunt, Tom Clay, Soc Clay, Jeff Knapp, Denny Sharrone, Ralph Scherder, Robert Gratson, and Mike Ludovici.
